The TV Academy said today that Pat Harvey, who has worked on Southland newscasts for more than a quarter-century, will receive the Los Angeles Area Governors Award next month. The newswoman joined KCAL-TV in 1989 after stints on CNN and local news in Michigan and moved to sister channel KCBS two decades later. She anchors the CBS O&Os 5 and 11 PM newscasts and also serves as a guest co-host on syndicated daytime show The Talk.
Harvey has won more than 20 local Emmys including three for best newscast, most recently for a story on the 20th anniversary of the LA riots. Other honors include the Genii Award for Excellence in TV Broadcasting from Southern California’s chapter of American Women in Radio and Television and the City Council and Board of Supervisors proclaiming October 20, 2009, as Pat Harvey Day in Los Angeles.
